Tears for Fears, one of the leading British synth-pop duos of the 1980s, will be performing at the Resorts World Convention Centre on May 4th, 2010 in Singapore.

Visitors from around the world are expected to flock to the city to see this legendary band perform and will place extra demands by their fans on Singapore hotels.

The concert will be the first performance for Tears for Fears in Singapore, and they will be performing at the brand-new convention centre in the Compass Ballroom. The band topped the charts during the 1980s with a variety of hits such as “Shout”, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World”, “Head Over Heels” , “Mad World” and “Advice for the Young at Heart”, and their appeal over the years has steadily grown.

Given the fact that this is their debut concert in Singapore, local and international fans alike are expected to fill the convention centre, as they will finally be able to see the super duo live for the very first time.

Singapore is already a busy city, and given the fact that this is the first time the band has performed there, it is expected that it will only get more crowded than usual, with visitors from around the world expected to attend for the concert in conjunction with locals.

As Tears for Fears is an international band, and maintain their status as one of pop music’s most productive collaborators, regularly selling out their concerts, the city is expected to see an even greater number of travellers than normal who wish to see them perform live.

Sir Elton John’s 2010 post-Oscars AIDS Foundation party was a hit – the singer raised over $3.5 million  in just a few hours at the lavish star-studded bash. The mulit-platinum selling hitmaker and his partner David Furnish invited a host of celebrities, including Betty White, Nicole Richie and Victoria Adams, to attend the 18th annual celebration, which raises money for the fight against AIDS.

After a lavish dinner and a performance by Grace Jones, guests were invited to participate in a live auction, where John sold the costume he wore at the Grammy Awards in January for $30,000 and a watch from his collection for $90,000.

Also up for grabs was a photo of U.S. President Barack Obama at college, which sold for $60,000 , and private tennis lessons from Andre Agassi and Steffi Graff, which raised $70,000.

The generous host also took in $140,000 by auctioning off a week-long stay at his home in Nice, France. He said, “I’m so blown away this year. We’re supposedly struggling though a recession and yet it keeps getting better every year.” ?
